Trap Team
Quantum Art

Algorithm Researcher and Developer

Quantum Art, a full stack quantum computing company, develop state of the art quantum computing systems based on trapped ions technology (both hardware and software).

As part of our mission, our team builds our quantum processing units (QPUs), develops novel quantum gates and circuits, and implements new algorithms capable of solving hard computational tasks, beyond current classical computational abilities.

We are looking for an Algorithm Researcher and Developer to join the Quantum Compiler effort, working at the intersection of theory, algorithms, and software engineering. This role focuses on designing and implementing compilation methods that bridge high-level quantum applications and low-level hardware execution.

Key responsibilities

  • Research, design, and implement hardware-aware and noise-aware quantum compilation heuristics.
  • Develop circuit optimization methods to improve fidelity, depth, latency, and hardware efficiency.
  • Design and develop efficient low-level compiler instruction sets and intermediate representations, with particular emphasis on their concrete deployment on our quantum hardware.
  • Integrate higher-level quantum protocols and algorithms into executable circuit flows, including quantum error correction, error mitigation, and measurement protocols.
  • Contribute to architecture decisions across theory, compiler, and software infrastructure layers.

Requirements and skills

  • PhD in Computer Science, Physics, Applied Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong background in graph algorithms.
  • Solid programming skills in Python.
  • Experience translating theoretical ideas into robust software components.
  • Ability to work across research and engineering boundaries in a multidisciplinary environment.

Advantage:

  • Familiarity with quantum computing concepts, including quantum circuits, gates, noise, and hardware constraints.
  • Experience with quantum compilers and circuit optimization frameworks.
  • Familiarity with hardware-aware compilation for NISQ or fault-tolerant quantum systems.
  • Familiarity with compiler design, optimization, intermediate representations.

General

  • We are located at the Science Park, by the Weizmann institute.
  • Full collaboration with the experimental & theoretical groups at the Weizmann Institute.
  • Only relevant candidates will be contacted.
