Project Management Officer (PMO)
Job Type: 50% position with option to increase to 100%
Quantum Art, a full stack quantum computing company, develops state of the art quantum computing systems based on trapped ions technology (both hardware and software).
As part of our mission, our team builds our quantum processing units (QPUs), develops novel quantum gates and circuits, and implements new algorithms capable of solving hard computational tasks, beyond current classical computational abilities.
The company is increasing interaction with multiple projects and is looking for an experienced highly organized and proactive Project Management Officer (PMO) to lead the planning, execution tracking, and reporting of our R&D projects, with a particular focus on initiatives supported by external customers and funding agencies. In addition, the PMO will provide support for operational, cross-functional, and ad hoc projects as needed: ensuring alignment, accountability, and timely execution across the organization.
Job description
- External Projects Management
- Support the preparation of project proposals for government funding (e.g., Israel Innovation Authority, EU programs, DARPA/DoE, etc.).
- Translate R&D goals into formal work plans, budgets, and deliverables aligned with grant requirements.
- Lead the preparation of periodic management, technical, and financial reports and meetings for funded programs.
- Ensure compliance with grant/project milestones, contractual obligations, and submission deadlines.
- Project Planning & Tracking
- Work with the R&D system engineer and group leaders and support development and maintaining project plans, Gantt charts, and work breakdown structures for R&D programs.
- Cross-Team Coordination
- Facilitate alignment across engineering, R&D, business, and management teams.
- Coordinate internal and external stakeholders during reviews, audits, and reporting cycles.
- Process & Tool Development
- Implement lightweight project management tools and templates tailored to a fast-paced R&D environment.
- Drive continuous improvement in planning, tracking, and documentation practices.
- Operational & Ad Hoc Project Support
- Lead or assist in planning and execution of internal operational initiatives that fall outside core R&D (e.g., process improvement, infrastructure upgrades, internal tooling, cross-department initiatives).
- Provide project structure, documentation, and coordination for short-term or urgent cross-functional needs.
Requirements and skills
Required:
- 5+ years of experience in project management or PMO roles, preferably in a deep-tech or R&D environment.
- Strong organizational skills, multitasking abilities, prioritization. Strong sense to details combined with high level view and understanding of complex projects.
- Proven experience supporting government-funded projects or writing grant proposals.
- Team player, good personal communication, presentation, leadership, and reporting skills.
- Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Asana, Monday.com, Jira, or equivalents).
- Fluent in English (written and spoken); strong technical writing skills.
- BSc in Industrial / Electrical / Mechanical Engineering, from a leading institute.
Preferred:
- Familiarity with quantum technologies, physics, or advanced engineering environments.
- Experience in multi-disciplinary projects involving lasers, optics, electronic control, ultra-high vacuum, low noise and stabilization methods.
- Prior experience with government R&D funding agencies.
- Background in engineering, physics, or a technical field is a plus.
