Physicist- QEC

Quantum-Art is a full-stack quantum computing company developing state-of-the-art quantum computing systems based on trapped-ion technology, encompassing both hardware and software. As part of our mission, the Theory and Algorithms Group models the performance of our Quantum Processing Units (QPUs), develops novel fault-tolerant architectures, and designs new algorithms capable of solving computationally hard problems beyond the reach of current classical methods. We are seeking an excellent and highly skilled physicist to join this group.

Job Description

  • Develop and apply quantum error correction codes and fault tolerant schemes for the quantum hardware.
  • Develop tools for efficient evaluation, characterization, and validation of QPU performance.
  • Perform numerical and analytical analysis of fault-tolerant performance
  • Develop unique next-generation fault tolerant architectures.
  • Collaborate extensively with the QPU group, jointly leading efforts toward high-performance and scalable quantum computers.

Requirements and skills

  • Ph.D. in theoretical Physics or Computer Science (exceptional candidates with an M.Sc. will be considered).
  • Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong teamwork skills, with very good communication, presentation, and reporting abilities.
  • Software development experience, including proficiency in Python or Julia.
  • Background in error correction codes, quantum or classical – a significant advantage.
  • Background in quantum science and technology — an advantage.
  • Background in computer science and algorithms — an advantage.

General

  • We are located at the Science Park, by the Weizmann Institute.
