Mechanical Designer
Quantum-Art is a full-stack quantum computing company focused on the development of cutting-edge quantum computing systems based on trapped-ion technology, covering both hardware and software domains. Our platforms combine precision laser delivery, highly stable opto-mechanical assemblies, ion-trap hardware, and quantum-grade ultra-high-vacuum systems. We are expanding our electro-optics team and are seeking a highly skilled mechanical designer with strong opto-mechanical and electro-mechanical expertise to design, develop, and build our next-generation quantum computer.
Job description
Work in R&D team in engineering team:
- Mechanical design, develop, and prototype state-of-the-art quantum computers and complex research systems
- Own and develop Opto-/electro-mechanical products and assembly procedures
- Create, maintain, and manage CAD assemblies and system-level BOMs
- Produce detailed 2D mechanical drawings, including GD&T
- Collaborate with mechanical design subcontractors and manufacturing partners
- Work hands-on in a quantum computing laboratory environment, including mechanics, optics, electronics, cryogenics, and ultra-high-vacuum components
- Collaborate closely with experimental physicists and multidisciplinary engineering teams
Requirements and skills
- B.Sc. / M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, Practical Engineer, or graduate of a military technological unit.
- Minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience as a mechanical designer
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in opto-mechanical design / precision mechanisms / opto-mechanical systems
- Proven experience as a mechanical designer within complex, multi-disciplinary systems
- Very high proficiency in SolidWorks and PDM
- Strong “hands-on” mindset with the ability to make things work in real-world systems
- Proficiency in common manufacturing technologies including Milling, Turning, Sheet metal
- Ability to take ownership of tasks from concept to completion
- Team-oriented mindset and excellent communication skills
- Fluent in English
Highly advantageous:
- Proficient in rapid prototyping technologies and hands on 3D printer operation
- Experience in electrical packaging and PCB Design
- Strong affinity for electronics and hands-on experience operating laboratory equipment
