Full Programmability

Due to the trapped ions' unique feature of all-to-all connectivity, and our multi-qubit gates capability, our architecture supports full programmability - the design of each qubit's participation in each motional mode. Here we deontrated experimentally a challenging quantum simulation of a ring-like topology programmed on a linear 1D ion chain, using a simple global laser drive.

Analyzing dynamics of an Ising-spin ring

We show good agreement of the experimental results to the designed operation, and analyze the dynamics of population excitation in the ring topology, including taking into account noise sources in the system. Populations in the even excitation sub-spaces exhibit coherent oscillations.
